TOPIC 1: Natural Disaster Aide During Periods of Economic Sanctions

“When natural disasters strike, countries may face challenges in providing adequate aid to affected communities, particularly during periods of economic sanctions. Sanctions can limit access to essential resources and funding, making it difficult to respond effectively to disasters and provide necessary support to affected populations. This committee addresses the need for international cooperation for countries facing economic sanctions so that they may provide/receive aid during natural disasters.“

TOPIC 2: Cobalt Mining in Sub-Saharan Africa

Cobalt is a crucial component in the production of rechargeable batteries, essential for powering electric vehicles and electronic devices. However, the mining of cobalt in Sub-Saharan Africa has been associated with a range of human rights violations, including child labor, unsafe working conditions, and environmental degradation. This committee addresses the need for responsible sourcing practices and ethical supply chains to ensure that the mining of cobalt benefits local communities and respects human rights, while also supporting the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions.”
