During the UNHCR committee, refugees seemed to be the main point of interest, particularly their healthcare. Many countries worked to find ways to facilitate healthcare in refugee camps. Two countries, in particular, seem to have an influx of refugees; Jordan has taken in Syrian refugees and Israel is receiving Ukrainian refugees. After speaking to the representatives of these two countries, we’ve learned that education, funding, and both short and long-term solutions hold the most value to these countries.
During this committee, multiple plans were suggested, but they all had similar ideas such as the direct implantation of healthcare structures into refugee camps and having thriving countries send materials such as vaccines to other countries. Conversation leaders within this committee included Brazil, Iceland, Jordan, Israel, and the UK. Through the rallying headed by these countries, healthcare in refugee camps has the possibility of improvement.
